KB Black Belt Info

We are pleased to inform you that our introduction of phases has been a great success. After a committee meeting it was agreed that as of June 16th, 2007 all Black Belts will have to complete 3 phases and a final grading to obtain their Dan grades.

As some Kickboxing students have already been training and waiting a long time to take their grading before these changes were introduced, the committee has decided that those students are able to take their dan grade on this grading if they have waited the full time limit required.

Please note: All Black Belts must complete all 3 phases and a final grading. This will mean students will be able to grade every 6 months (in the grading months of JUNE & DECEMBER ONLY).

As stated in your Licence book the minimum timeframe for a student to go from a Black Belt to 2nd Dan is 2 years. This is an example of how a student may achieve their 2nd dan with the new phases introduced:

June - Date received Black Belt
December - 1st Dan, phase one
June - 1st Dan, phase two
December - 1st Dan, phase three
June - 2nd Dan Final Grading

Timeframe = 2 years

If you have any queries or are unsure of how these changes may affect you then please feel free to speak to a member of the MAFC staff.
