Taekwon-Do

Taekwon-do

Taekwon-do is a Korean form of self defence developed by Gen Choi Hong Hi 9th degree Black belt.
Taekewon-do was officially recognised on the 11th April 1955. Translated, "TAE" means to kick or smash with the foot, "KWON" denotes fist - chiefly to punch or destroy with the hands or fist, and "DO" means art or way. The Taekwon-do practised at the centre is affiliated to the International Taekwon-do Federation (I.T.F) as well as N.A.K.M.A.S national governing body. At the M.A.F.C we have special classes for Men, Women and Children with different classes for different grades and ages.
Children under 16yrs old who obtain their Black Belts are called Cadet Black Belts and complete the syllabus at 18yrs Old which would include Korean terminology and board breaking. Remember your first lesson is free and all you need is a pair of track-suit bottoms and a T-shirt to start!

For more information on Taekwon-do please feel free to call into the centre or phone Kay or Emma on 01633 222260.

NANBUDO

The art of Nanbudo has many similarities with existing martial arts, in as much that it contains all the basic movements, kicks, punches and blocks as any ordinary form of Karate, but compared to other forms it has so much more.  Nanbudo often uses big circular movements with throws and sweeps in order to redirect the opponents power at themselves.  The founder, Yoshinoa Nanbu, has also developed specific katas and exercises to help improve ones health and develop the spirit.  So through combining Bu do ho (fighting techniques) and Noryoku Kiahatsu ho (Meditation and personal development).  Nanbudo has evolved to a higher level, training not only the body but also the mind.

Monday 7pm - 9:30pm
